It’s January, so it’s IFTA month.  You know the drill… File IFTA.  Pay taxes.  Go back on the road.

But that’s not the only big news from TruckingOffice about IFTA this year.

You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers:  IFTA Resource Center

There’s no question – the number one question we get about our trucking management software solution is about filing IFTA.  Every day, new and experienced truckers want answers about IFTA filings.

We could refer people back to the IFTA website, but most of the time, the people asking the questions have already been there and gotten more confused.  So we have introduced the IFTA Resource Center.  This new webpage features simple and clear explanations about

  • Who needs to file IFTA?
  • How do you apply for an IFTA sticker?
  • What do to if you don’t drive outside your state this quarter?

and dozens of other questions.  If you’ve got a question that we don’t have an answer for, we’d like to know!

Confused by IFTA?

Plenty of people are confused – so that’s why we published the IFTA Resource Center.  To explain IFTA in its simplest terms, it’s a method to make sure that all jurisdictions share the fuel taxes fairly based on the mileage of the trucks on their roads.  That’s why keeping accurate miles per state records is so important – the IFTA matrix tracks the tax rates for each state and province and makes sure the monies go where they are supposed to go.  The confusion gets started when the miles don’t match.  That’s why we highly recommend that you use TruckingOffice trucking management software for your IFTA filing:  by using PC*Miler and TruckingOffice, those numbers are automatically computed for you.

Then, if the DOT comes calling for an audit, you’re already prepared with a few keystrokes to produce the reports that will make the DOT very happy – and save you money you might have to pay for penalties and fines.

We fully expect that with the Electronic Logging Device mandate (ELD), that the ELD system and IFTA will be linked.  That makes having a good, solid system that you can trust – and takes care of everything in one trucking management program – will be vital to your trucking business.  If you don’t have all these pieces in place, your IFTA filing will be a giant headache.  Get the software that manages your

  • invoices
  • routings
  • tracks fuel purchases
  • records miles per state
  • can compute an IFTA report in less than a minute

and avoid the quarterly pain.

Integrated TMS and ELD

We’re not joking about integrating our trucking management software and the ELD.  Just this past week, we rolled up an upgrade on our ELD system.  Now when a trucking business accepts a load and creates an invoice, the important data such as BOL and routings will be accessible by the TruckingOffice ELD system.  When a trucker logs onto their ELD, all the data is stored together and easily accessible by the trucker and the home office.  Load tracking is now sweet and simple:  every step of the delivery is visible in our system.

This is just the start.  We have big things in mind for the TMS and ELD integration to make your trucking business management as simple as it can be.  You’ll want to keep your eyes on TruckingOffice.  2019 will see some fantastic changes that will make running your trucking business smoother and easier than ever!
