An IRP plate and cab card will be issued for each vehicle in the fleet and must be renewed annually.<\/span><\/p>\n To register for your IRP apportioned license plate in Ohio, contact your base jurisdiction for instructions that may be specific to that state. \u00a0Contact information can be found <\/span>here<\/span><\/a>. \u00a0But, before beginning the registration process, you should make sure you and your vehicles meet the qualifications:<\/span><\/p>\n To establish Ohio as your base jurisdiction, you must meet the following requirements:<\/span><\/p>\n A qualifying motor vehicle is one that exceeds 26,000 pounds gross vehicle weight and has three or more axles. \u00a0Also, the vehicle(s) are designed, maintained, and used for transporting persons or property across state lines. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n You also must have an IFTA license and decals in addition to the IRP plate. \u00a0More information about Ohio IFTA can be found <\/span>here.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n When your IRP registration is approved, you will receive an Apportioned License Plate for the power unit and an Apportioned Cab Card for each vehicle you operate. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Your Ohio IRP plate must be renewed once a year. \u00a0Due dates for renewals are determined by the date of your initial registration, and the fees vary depending on the states where you traveled. \u00a0You\u2019ll find the renewal date listed on the cab card. The renewal application should be received by the IRP at least 30 days before the renewal date. \u00a0Through the year, you should keep track of all mileage in each jurisdiction.
