Currently to obtain an IFTA license in New Brunswick you must complete and submit an application to The New Brunswick Finance Department. All fees are assessed based on the number of motor vehicles operating in the IFTA jurisdictions along with a $25 fee for each set of decals.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Requirements for IFTA New Brunswick Licensing<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">New Brunswick is one of ten Canadian provinces that are members of the International Fuel Tax Agreement. \u00a0If you are new to the trucking industry and plan to operate out of New Brunswick, the IFTA regulations may apply to you. \u00a0To determine if you qualify for an <\/span><a href=\"..\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">IFTA New Brunswick<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> license, check the following guideline:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Is your business based in New Brunswick and all operational controls and records maintained in or can be made available in the province?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Will you accrue mileage in New Brunswick and at least one other IFTA member jurisdiction?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Do you operate a qualifying motor vehicle(s)?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A qualifying motor vehicle is one that has two axles with a GVW or registered weight that exceeds 26,000 pounds; or, has three or more axles regardless of weight; or, is used in combination when the GVW or registered weight of said combination exceeds 26,000 pounds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You also need to know about <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iftach.org\/exempt\/view\/general2018n.php\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">exemptions<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. \u00a0For instance, exemptions are determined depending on where you drove or purchased fuel. \u00a0In some jurisdictions, areas such as private roads, toll roads, or Indian reservations qualify for an exemption. \u00a0Also, some types of fuel are exempt in some provinces, and certain vehicles are exempt in most areas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When you receive your IFTA permit and IFTA decals, make sure a copy of the license is carried inside each vehicle in your fleet. \u00a0One IFTA decal should be displayed on each side of the cab\u2019s exterior. Becoming an IFTA licensee comes with a few other responsibilities. \u00a0You\u2019ll need to keep track of all receipts or other supporting documents for fuel purchases and miles traveled in each jurisdiction.
