Manitoba is a Canadian prairie province that currently home to 1.2 million people. In order to obtain an IFTA license in Manitoba you must submit a completed application to the Taxation Division of Manitoba to receive your credentials. There is an annual license fee of $65.00 and an additional $5.00 for each set of decals. Each qualified vehicle is required to have one set of decals.<\/p>\n

Requirements for IFTA Manitoba Licensing<\/span><\/h2>\n

Now that you\u2019ve earned your CPL you\u2019re ready to get behind the wheel and start making money. \u00a0Congratulations on your new venture! Before you get started, you need to be familiar with the<\/span> IFTA Manitoba<\/span><\/a> rules and regulations. \u00a0If you plan to claim Manitoba as your base jurisdiction, the following conditions must be met:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Your business is based in Manitoba and all operational controls and records are maintained in and can be made available to the province.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. You operate a qualified vehicle and accrue mileage in Manitoba and at least one other IFTA jurisdiction.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    IFTA defines a qualified motor vehicle as one that is designed, used, and maintained for transporting persons or property. \u00a0The vehicle qualifies for IFTA permits if it has two axles and a GVW exceeding 26,000 pounds, or has three axles regardless of weight, or is used in combination when the combined GVW exceeds 26,000 pounds.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Some jurisdictions allow exemptions regarding fuel purchases and usage. \u00a0For instance, private roads, toll roads, or Indian reservations are a few. \u00a0Exemptions may also include type of fuel, temporary permits, or vehicle types. \u00a0More about exemptions can be found <\/span>here<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

    When you receive your IFTA decals and license, you\u2019ll be required to file quarterly fuel use tax reports. A copy of the license must be carried in the cab of each qualified motor vehicle. \u00a0Also, an IFTA decal should be displayed on each side of the cab\u2019s exterior. <\/span><\/p>\n

    The quarterly reporting process has been streamlined by the IFTA. \u00a0You\u2019ll only need to submit one report each quarter to your base jurisdiction who will distribute the taxes to the provinces\/states on your route. \u00a0To avoid any fines or penalties you\u2019ll need to submit the fuel tax report before the due dates shown below:<\/span><\/p>\n

    If you are delinquent in filing or paying IFTA fuel use taxes, a fine of 10% of the tax liability or $50, whichever is greater, will have to be paid. Unless you are up-to-date with all IFTA taxes, your license cannot be renewed.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Renewing Your IFTA Manitoba License<\/span><\/h3>\n

     <\/p>\n

    An IFTA Manitoba license is issued for one year, expiring on December 31st. \u00a0To prevent any delays in receiving the renewal, you need to submit your application before November 30th. \u00a0However, you can request an extension if you are in compliance with all IFTA taxes. If you are granted an extension, you\u2019ll have until March 1st to display the current IFTA decals.<\/span><\/p>\n
