Qu\u00e9bec is located in east-central Canada and is currently the only province with a predominantly French-speaking population that is home to more than 8 million people. To obtain an IFTA license in Qu\u00e9bec you must first submit a completed application to the Revenue Qu\u00e9bec. There is a $53.75 annual license charge and a $10.80 fee for each par of decals. Each qualified vehicle is required to have one decal on both sides of the cab.<\/p>\n

Requirements for IFTA Quebec Licensing<\/span><\/h2>\n

Being a professional trucker today presents a combination of adventure and challenges. \u00a0If you\u2019re like most drivers, one of the problems you wish to avoid is the abundant record-keeping and reports. \u00a0The good news is under the IFTA your reporting requirements are much less complicated than what truckers had to deal with in the past. \u00a0Let\u2019s take a quick look at what has changed and how it applies to you. Even though the requirements for <\/span>IFTA Quebec licensing<\/span><\/a> are much improved, they are confusing, even to long-time, seasoned truckers.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the past, truckers were required to have a license and stickers for each state on their route. \u00a0They also had to file individual fuel use tax forms to each state. Keeping track of the different tax rates and fuel costs was a massive chore. \u00a0Today, under the IFTA, the process has been streamlined and is less tedious. Truckers only need one license that allows them to travel among all participating jurisdiction. Also, IFTA licensees need to submit only one tax report each quarter. \u00a0The base jurisdiction then collects and distributes the taxes accordingly. The IFTA quarterly tax schedule is as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n

IFTA requirements apply to you if you operate a qualified motor vehicle in Quebec and at least one other participating jurisdiction. \u00a0FYI: The US has 48 IFTA member states, and Canada has 10 IFTA member provinces. Before applying for IFTA permits, be sure your vehicle meets the following qualifications:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Your vehicle is designed, used, and maintained to transport persons or property, and<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Has two axles and a GVW of more than 26,000 pounds, or<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Has three axles regardless of weight, or<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. The vehicle is used in combination when the combined weight exceeds 26,000 pounds.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The IFTA allows a few vehicle exemptions, which are listed <\/span>here<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

    When you receive your IFTA license and IFTA decals, you\u2019re ready to hit the road and start making money. \u00a0Be sure you carry a copy of the license inside each cab. The IFTA decals should be displayed on each side of the cab\u2019s exterior. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Renewing Your Quebec IFTA License<\/span><\/h3>\n

    You\u2019ll need to renew your IFTA license every year. \u00a0Although the expiration date is December 31st, you need to submit the IFTA renewal application before November 30th to avoid any delays. \u00a0The IFTA sticker grace period of March 1st does not apply if you have not applied for the renewal on time. <\/span><\/p>\n
