is located in the South Atlantic region of the United States and is home to more than 8 million people. In regards to IFTA compliance, Virginia requires that yo submit an application to The Department of Motor Vehicles. There is currently a $10 fee for each set of decals. Each qualified vehicle is required to have one set of decals.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">State Requirements IFTA Virginia Licensing<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you are a trucker based in Virginia, you will want to know as much about your obligations regarding the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) as possible. IFTA was created as an agreement between 48 U.S. member jurisdictions and 10 Canadian provinces to simplify the disbursement of fuel taxes. To be qualified for a Virginia IFTA license, your business must be based in Virginia and operation controls and records maintained here.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you operate a qualified motor vehicle(s) and accrue miles in Virginia and at least one other member jurisdiction, you will qualify for an IFTA license. Your vehicle is qualified if you meet the following requirements:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It is designed, maintained and used for transporting people or property;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Has two axles and a GVW or registered GVW of more than 26,000 pounds <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Has three or more axles regardless of weight or has a combination GVW or registered GVW over 26,000 pounds.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Once you\u2019ve determined you qualify, you must obtain an IFTA license allowing you to travel between any member jurisdiction. You will receive one license and two IFTA decals for each vehicle. A copy of the license must be kept in the vehicle and IFTA decals must be displayed on each side of the cab\u2019s exterior. It is important to submit your IFTA license renewal application before November 30th to avoid delays or penalties. If you have not received your renewal license, Virginia allows an IFTA sticker grace period that extends into February of the following year. During that time, you will need to continue displaying your IFTA decals and keep your license.
