and lies in the Western United States with a population of about 600,000 people. Currently to obtain an IFTA license in Wyoming you must submit an application to the Department of Transportation. The current charge for a license is $10 with an additional $3 decal fee. Each qualified vehicle operating in IFTA jurisdictions is required to have one set of decals.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">State Requirements Wyoming IFTA Licensing<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) was created to streamline the process of collecting and disbursing interstate fuel use taxes. An IFTA license offers many benefits to truckers, beyond just a simpler process. For example, truckers will need only one license and one set of IFTA decals to travel between member jurisdictions. Also, they will only need to file one quarterly fuel tax report. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To determine whether Wyoming is your base jurisdiction you must meet the following IFTA requirements:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Your business is based in and operates from Wyoming and least one other IFTA jurisdiction.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">All official operations and records are maintained in Wyoming or can be made available here.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You operate one or more qualified vehicles that accrue mileage on Wyoming highways. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Additionally, your vehicle(s) will need to qualify before applying for an IFTA license. You are required to obtain an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.truckingoffice.com\/ifta\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">IFTA license<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> if your vehicle is designed for the transport of persons or products and has:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Two axles and a GVW or registered GVW exceeding 26,000 pounds or;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Three or more axles regardless of weight or;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A combination of GVW over 26,000 pounds.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Once your application is approved, you will receive one IFTA license and two IFTA decals. Be sure to keep a copy of the license in each vehicle and display the IFTA decals on the rear exterior of each side of the cab(s). \u00a0The IFTA also requires you to keep track of all fuel expenses in each jurisdiction on your route, as well as mileage accrued. This information is to be used when filing the quarterly fuel use taxes with your base jurisdiction. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Failure to file the IFTA fuel tax before the due date can incur penalties of up to 10% of the amount owed, or $50, whichever is greater. \u00a0Non-compliance with quarterly taxes may prevent the renewal of your IFTA license.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Renewing Your Wyoming IFTA License<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A Wyoming IFTA license is valid for one year only, expiring on December 31st. \u00a0You must be in compliance with all IFTA fuel use taxes to be eligible for a renewal. \u00a0You should file for renewal by November 30th to avoid delays and penalties. IFTA Wisconsin gives members the ability to renew their applications online or to submit renewals by mail. If you have not received your renewal paperwork by the expiry date, Wyoming IFTA gives truckers an IFTA sticker grace period which extends to February of the coming year. During this time, you must display your old permits and decals to remain compliant.
