To obtain an IFTA license in Kentucky you must submit a Trucking Application to the Division of Motor Carriers. Kentucky does not currently charge a fee for applications or IFTA decals.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Kentucky is one of 48 states in the U.S. that has joined the IFTA. Kentucky is your base jurisdiction for licensing and reporting if you meet the following IFTA requirements:<\/span><\/p>\n To obtain an IFTA license in Kentucky, you must submit a Trucking Application to the Division of Motor Carriers. Obtaining an IFTA license offers several benefits to interstate\/inter-jurisdictional motor carriers. These benefits include: one license, one set of IFTA decals, one quarterly fuel tax report, which reflects the net tax or refund dues, and one audit in most circumstances. Currently, Kentucky does not charge a fee for applications or IFTA decals. <\/span><\/p>\n Prior to submitting a Kentucky IFTA License application, you should determine whether or not your vehicle(s) qualifies. You required to obtain an IFTA license if your vehicle meets the following standards:<\/span><\/p>\n Certain vehicles are exempt from IFTA licensing requirements in Kentucky. Motorhomes, pickup trucks with attached campers, and buses used exclusively for personal use or pleasure by an individual are not required to obtain an IFTA permit. Exempt vehicles cannot be associated with a business in any way. <\/span><\/p>\n Once you have received your IFTA permit and decals, you are ready to roll. Two IFTA decals are issued and are both required to be placed on the rear exterior portion of both sides of the cab. A copy of the IFTA permit should be kept in every driver\u2019s cab as well. You will also be required to file a quarterly Kentucky IFTA fuel<\/a> tax form. <\/span><\/p>\n You are required to keep track of all fuel expenses in each jurisdiction of your route. The taxes are filed within your base jurisdiction, who will in turn, distribute the funds appropriately. <\/span><\/p>\n Failure to file tax forms by the deadline can cost 50$ or 10% of the net tax due to all jurisdictions, whichever is greater.
