Georgia is known as the ‘Peach State” and currently has a population of about 10 million people. In Georgia in order to receive an IFTA license you must request an application by contacting the Motor Vehicle Division at 404-968-3800. Currently Georgia does not charge for an IFTA license, however each set of IFTA decals is a fee of $3.<\/p>\n

State Requirements Georgia IFTA Licensing<\/span><\/h2>\n

So, who needs an IFTA sticker?\u00a0\u00a0The state of Georgia is a member of the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA).\u00a0 This means that truckers are required to obtain an IFTA Georgia license if Georgia is their base jurisdiction and they will travel interstate with a qualified motor vehicle. \u00a0A qualified motor vehicle is defined as one that is designed, used, or maintained for transporting people or property. The vehicle must have two or more axles and GVW or registered weight exceeding 26,000 pounds or have three or more axles regardless of weight.<\/span><\/p>\n

IFTA was created to provide a more efficient method of reporting and disbursing IFTA fuel taxes among the jurisdictions. \u00a0Members include 48 contiguous states in the U.S. and 10 Canadian provinces. Drivers who travel in these jurisdictions are required to submit their Georgia IFTA fuel tax forms each quarter before the due date to avoid fines, penalties, or legal action. The IFTA fuel taxes are filed with the base jurisdiction each quarter according to the due dates below:<\/span><\/p>\n
