which is currently home to a little under 3 million people. To receive your IFTA license in Utah you need to submit a completed application and send it to the Utah State Tax Commission. Currently Utah does not charge for an application however there is a $4 decal fee.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">State Requirements IFTA Utah Licensing<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You may be new to the trucking industry, or you might be a pro. Either way, you might have questions about the requirements for IFTA. Here you will find some of the most important information regarding IFTA Utah licensing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In order to receive your IFTA permits, you must be able to show your business is based in Utah and that you operate among one or more IFTA interstate member jurisdictions. You will also need to determine whether your vehicle(s) qualifies. A qualified vehicle is defined by the IFTA as one that is \u201cdesigned, used and maintained for transporting persons or property.\u201d You must also meet the following requirements:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Has two axles and a GVW or registered GVW that exceeds 26,000 pounds, or<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Is used in combination when the weight of such combination is more than 26,000 pounds GVW or registered GVW, or<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Has three axles, regardless of weight.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Utah is your base jurisdiction if your vehicle(s) is registered in the state, maintain operational control and records here, and accrue mileage here as well. \u00a0Upon approval, you will receive one IFTA license and <\/span><a href=\"..\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">IFTA decals<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, which must be affixed to each side of the cab\u2019s exterior. A copy of the IFTA license must also be kept in the cab of each vehicle in your fleet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As an IFTA licensee, your quarterly fuel use taxes are due as follows: \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<th colspan=\"2\">\n<h3>Quarterly IFTA Due Dates<\/h3>\n<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><b>Q1<\/b> January &#8211; March<\/td>\n<td>April 30<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><b>Q2<\/b> April &#8211; June<\/td>\n<td>July 31<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><b>Q3<\/b> July &#8211; September<\/td>\n<td>October 31<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><b>Q4<\/b> October &#8211; December<\/td>\n<td>January 31<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<div class=\"et-fb-loader\" style=\"margin-bottom: 40px\"><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you fail to file before the due date, you can be fined 10% of the total taxes due, or $50, whichever is greater. \u00a0Delinquent filing or payments can interfere with renewing your IFTA license and decals. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Renewing Your Utah IFTA License<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">IFTA licenses in Utah are valid for one year, expiring on December 31st. \u00a0To be eligible for your IFTA sticker renewal, you must be up-to-date with all quarterly fuel use taxes. \u00a0To avoid any delays in getting the renewals on time, you should apply before November 30. \u00a0Utah IFTA allows a two-month grace period, which extends into February for renewal stickers to be displayed. \u00a0If decals are lost or destroyed, you can apply for an IFTA sticker replacement at an additional cost. You will need to be compliant with all IFTA fuel use taxes for renewals to be approved.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">IFTA Utah gives members the ability to file their renewal license electronically using our IFTA Web File system.
