is located in the Southeastern United States and currently has a population of about 6 million people. To obtain an IFTA license you must submit an application to the Tennessee Department of Revenue. Tennessee does not currently charge a fee to submit an application or for required decals.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">State Requirements IFTA Tennessee Licensing<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If your vehicles qualify, you must apply for an IFTA license. Qualified motor vehicles operating in more than one IFTA jurisdiction must obtain a license and IFTA decals that allow them to travel in any member jurisdiction. \u00a0A qualified vehicle is one that is designed, maintained, and used to transport persons or property, and meets the following stipulations:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Has two axles and a GVW or registered GVW that exceeds 26,000 pounds, or;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Is used in combination when the weight of such combination is more than 26,000 pounds GVW or registered GVW, or;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Has three axles, regardless of weight.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tennessee qualifies as your base jurisdiction if you register your vehicles in Tennessee, maintain operational control and records in the state, and accrue mileage here. To obtain an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.truckingoffice.com\/ifta\/tennessee-ifta-information\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">IFTA license<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, you must submit an IFTA sticker application to the Tennessee Department of Revenue. Tennessee does not currently charge a fee to submit an application or for required decals. If your application for a license is approved, you\u2019ll receive one license and two IFTA decals for each registered vehicle. \u00a0A copy of the license must be carried inside the cab, and one IFTA decal must be affixed to each side of the cab\u2019s exterior. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As an IFTA licensee, your quarterly fuel use taxes are due as follows: \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<th colspan=\"2\">\n<h3>Quarterly IFTA Due Dates<\/h3>\n<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><b>Q1<\/b> January &#8211; March<\/td>\n<td>April 30<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><b>Q2<\/b> April &#8211; June<\/td>\n<td>July 31<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><b>Q3<\/b> July &#8211; September<\/td>\n<td>October 31<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><b>Q4<\/b> October &#8211; December<\/td>\n<td>January 31<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Failing to file your fuel tax report or pay your fuel taxes on time may result in a fine of 10% of the total taxes due, or $50, whichever is greater. \u00a0Delinquent filing or payments can interfere with renewing your IFTA license and decals. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Renewing Your Tennessee IFTA License<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Your IFTA license and decals expire each year on December 31st. You will receive your renewal application 30 days prior to the due date. You should file as early as possible to avoid a delay in renewal, ideally before November 30th. However, if you do not receive your renewal license by the expiry date, Tennessee offers a grace period through February of the following year.
