Located in the western part of the United States is Nevada, otherwise known as “The Battle Born State” that currently has a population of nearly 3 million people. In Nevada you have to submit an application the Department of Motor Vehicles to receive an IFTA license. Under the Hurricane Sandy Waiver, Nevada does not charge for applications or decals.<\/p>\n

State Requirements IFTA Nevada Licensing<\/span><\/h2>\n

So, who needs an IFTA sticker and license? Nevada is your base jurisdiction if your business is based in the state and all operational controls and records are maintained and can be made available to the state. \u00a0Your vehicle(s) should meet the following qualifications:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Qualifying vehicles are those that are designed, used, or maintained for transporting people or property, \u00a0and\/or<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Has two or more axles and a GVW or registered weight over 26,000 pounds, and\/or<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Has three or more axles regardless of weight, and\/or<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Has a combination GVW exceeding 26,000 pounds.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The International Fuel Tax agreement was created to provide a more efficient method of reporting and disbursing fuel taxes among the jurisdictions. \u00a0Drivers are required to report fuel purchases and usage to their base jurisdiction on a quarterly basis. The IFTA quarterly due dates are:<\/span><\/p>\n

    To avoid fines or penalties, you must file quarterly taxes before the due date. \u00a0Delinquency can result in a $50 fine or 10% of the total tax liability — whichever is greater. \u00a0It can also interfere with the renewal of your IFTA license.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Renewing Your Nevada IFTA License<\/span><\/h3>\n

     <\/p>\n

    A Nevada IFTA license is issued for one year, from January 1st to December 31st. \u00a0Before your license can be approved for renewal, you must be up-to-date with all IFTA tax payments and reports. \u00a0To avoid delays in receiving your renewal, you must submit the application before November 30th. The IFTA allows an IFTA sticker grace period through to the end of February to compensate for any unforeseen delays. \u00a0However, the grace period does not apply unless you have submitted your application before the deadline. <\/span><\/p>\n

    You\u2019ll receive a license and two IFTA decals. \u00a0A copy of the license must be carried in the cab of each vehicle. \u00a0Also, an <\/span>IFTA decal<\/span><\/a> must be displayed on the exterior of the vehicle\u2019s cab, one on each side. \u00a0If the decals are destroyed or stolen, you can apply for an IFTA sticker replacement. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
