Missouri or properly known as “The Show-Me State” is located in the Midwestern United States and currently has a population of 6 million people. In order to receive a Missouri IFTA license you must submit an application to the Missouri Department of Transportation. There are currently no fees or charges for an application or decals.<\/p>\n

State Requirements Missouri IFTA Licensing<\/span><\/h2>\n

As a trucker, you face some difficult challenges, but you\u2019ve joined one of the top paying blue collar professions around as well. \u00a0To succeed, you\u2019ll want to spend as much time driving as possible, but you\u2019ll also need to be organized. You will need to understand the IFTA requirements in order to avoid missing important deadlines. \u00a0Below are some of the IFTA Missouri licensing rules you should know. <\/span><\/p>\n

The International Fuel Tax Agreement was created to help truckers minimize the amount of paperwork involved in reporting and paying fuel use taxes. \u00a0Rather than having IFTA stickers for each state on their route and paying taxes individually to those states, drivers can now submit their reports to a base jurisdiction and let them handle the rest. \u00a0However, this new agreement didn\u2019t eliminate all of the paperwork, and there are still some deadlines to meet. Let\u2019s look at some of the IFTA sticker requirements to help you understand what you need to do and when.<\/span><\/p>\n

Truckers are required to apply for IFTA permits if they operate a qualified motor vehicle and travel interstate among one or more member jurisdictions. \u00a0\u00a0A list of vehicle qualifications can be found <\/span>here<\/span><\/a>. \u00a0There are some exemptions such as non-IFTA states and non-IFTA miles. That state by state exemption list can be found <\/span>here<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The IFTA also requires truckers to submit quarterly fuel use tax reports. \u00a0Failure to file and pay by the due date can result in a penalty of 10% of the taxes owed, or $50, whichever is greater. \u00a0Non-compliance with these taxes can prevent renewal of your IFTA license. The quarterly due dates are as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n

Renewing Your Missouri IFTA License<\/span><\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

Missouri IFTA licenses are valid for one year and expire on December 31st. \u00a0You\u2019re advised to submit the renewal application before November 30th to avoid any delays. \u00a0In case there is a delay, you have an IFTA sticker grace period extending through February to display renewal stickers. \u00a0However, the grace period only applies if you have submitted your renewal application on time. <\/span><\/p>\n

When the new license arrives, you will also receive two decals for each vehicle(s) you operate. \u00a0An IFTA decal<\/a> must be placed on the outside of the cab, one on each side. Also, you must keep a copy of the current year license inside each vehicle.<\/span><\/p>\n

If your decals are lost, stolen, or destroyed, you can apply for IFTA replacement stickers at additional cost. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
